«CNC operations and machining» is everything a numerically controlled machine does to a part once its size and edge have been set: drilling, grooves, rebate and rabbet, cuts and chamfers, cutouts, contour milling, surface operations, cut-to. If the cutting defines the shape of the blank and the edge banding covers its edges, this section is responsible for the «filling»: holes for hardware, grooves for the back panel and the drawer bottom, recesses for built-in handles and locks, shaped and decorative contours.
In iFurn.pro the machining is set by the technologist right in the project. Every part has an operations menu: you choose the type, open its window and enter the parameters — coordinates, diameter, depth, length, side, tool. What exactly is available and how much it costs is determined by the company: an operation appears in the menu only if the production has the right machine, and the rates are set in the company's services catalog. The technologist does not choose the machine and does not write the control program — they describe what the part should end up with.
The section is built for speed and repeatability. Identical operations are copied and mirrored between parts and sides; frequently used grooves and sets of holes are saved as templates and applied in one click; for projects with hundreds of identical operations there is a tabular (Excel-like) input. Apart stands the surface-operations mode — when the machining is applied to the face of the part (top/bottom) rather than to the edge.
Each subfolder describes its own type of machining — the interface, the parameters and how the operation gets into the estimate and into production:
Advanced milling is building an arbitrary milling contour manually, point by point. It suits complex decorative contours and shaped cut-outs that are not in the ready-made templates. How it worksThe operation consists of …
OpenA section about processing the part's edge: how to remove material along the edge or give it a shape. The edge is processed in four ways — rounding, chamfering, bevel and recessed handle, — and an angled edge bevel can a…
Open«Drilling» is the boring of holes in a part on a drilling-and-dowelling machine or a machining centre. Holes are needed for all carcass hardware: confirmats and dowels for assembling the frame, hinge cups, minifix and ca…
OpenA groove is a lengthwise channel in a part for an insert: the back panel of a wardrobe, a drawer bottom, glass, a divider, a connecting strip. In iFurn.pro a groove is a separate CNC operation: the technologist sets the …
OpenReady-made CNC operation templates from the firm's library: drilling for hardware, corner and side processing, plane processing, worktops and quarter grooving. Applying a template is a single choice: the operation fields…
OpenA recess (colloquially — a pocket) is a cavity milled in the plane of the part along a set contour. It is made for built-in handles, locks, hinges, niches and similar elements. A recess is set on the front or back side o…
OpenA section about two part operations that belong neither to drilling, nor to grooves, nor to cuts: stitching and trimming. Stitching Stitching joins a part with a «lower part» into a single double part of increased thickn…
Open«Surface operations» (in the app — the «Plane treatments» window) are finishing treatments of the part's plane (painting, patination, varnishing, grinding) applied to the front or back side of several parts at once, afte…
OpenTable input of operations is an Excel-like mode for quickly entering many operations of one part: operations are entered as rows in a table, with copying, pasting from the clipboard and filling down. It is handy when a p…
