A groove is a lengthwise channel in a part for an insert: the back panel of a wardrobe, a drawer bottom, glass, a divider, a connecting strip. In iFurn.pro a groove is a separate CNC operation: the technologist sets the width, depth, side and position of the groove, and saves frequently repeated grooves as templates to apply in one click.
The section is split into two parts. «Grooving a part» — how the groove form is built and each of its parameters: the groove width and its link to the saw thickness, the groove type (open or closed), the operation side (face or edge), the depth, the distance to the start and the offsets, including the offsets at the start and the end of a closed groove. «Groove templates» — how to save a groove setup into the company library, apply a template to a part and see which templates are placed on its sides.
Grooves, like other CNC operations, can be changed in bulk: group processing of operations works with grooves too — select grooves by parts, planes and sizes and, in one action, change or delete them (see the article «Group processing of operations»).
Each groove goes onto the cutting map, into the part drawing, into the groove report for printing and into the machine control program, while its cost goes into the estimate at the company's grooving-service rate.
A groove template is a saved grooving setup (width, depth, offset) that can be applied to a part in one click instead of manual entry. Here — how to create a template from the groove form, where the company template libr…
OpenGrooving a part is creating a groove as an operation: the «Grooving» form opens in the CNC-operations panel, and the groove is described by a set of parameters — width, type (open/closed), depth, side and offsets. The ar…
