When a part needs a row of identical holes — for example, for shelf supports, drawer runners or evenly spaced drilling — you do not have to enter them one by one. Three fields of the form place the whole row in a single step: «X offset», «Y offset» and «Number of drillings».
How it works
The first hole is placed at the given coordinate (X, Y), and each next one is shifted relative to the previous by the offset value. How many holes to place in total is set by «Number of drillings».
- «X offset» — the step between holes along the length of the part (mm).
- «Y offset» — the step along the width of the part (mm).
- «Number of drillings» — how many holes in the row, from 1 to 20.
All holes of the row get the same side, depth and diameter — they differ only in coordinates.
Direction of the row
The direction is set by which offset is filled in:
- offset only in X — a horizontal row along the part;
- offset only in Y — a vertical row;
- both offsets — the row goes diagonally.
The offset value is the step of the row: for example, an offset in Y of 32 mm gives a vertical row with a 32 mm step.
When the fields are available
The offset and number fields are active only after the X and Y coordinates are set (non-zero) — the row needs a starting point. These fields appear when adding a new hole; in the edit mode of an already added hole they are absent.
«Do not reset the values when adding»
The «Do not reset the values when adding» checkbox keeps the entered parameters in the form after pressing «Add». Combined with the offset this is handy for long rows: the form automatically moves to the coordinate of the last hole, and each next press of «Add» continues the row further with the same step.
If the box is unchecked (the default), the form is cleared after adding — convenient when the next hole will be elsewhere.
Limit
Up to 20 holes are placed at a time. If the row is longer, add it in several passes — easiest with the «Do not reset the values» box checked, continuing the row with the «Add» button.
Next
A finished row can, if needed, be countersunk for confirmats (see the article «Countersinking for confirmats») or changed in bulk together with other holes through group processing.
