Chamfering is a small slope along the part's edge. A chamfer is made for a neat look of the edge and to remove the sharp corner. It is one of the four edge processing types.
Where it is set
A chamfer is set in the common edge processing form — for the needed side of the part (top, bottom, left, right) you choose the «Chamfering» type. The general principle of the form is described in the article «Edge processing: types and common form».
Enabling at production
The «Chamfering» type appears in the list only if it is enabled in the production settings (a separate chamfer switch). If it is off, a chamfer cannot be chosen.
Choosing the chamfer variant
Unlike a bevel, a chamfer is not set manually with numbers — it is chosen as a ready variant from the production library in the «Processing» field. Each variant is a predefined chamfer geometry (its size and angle are built into the variant itself). A variant usually has a picture preview: a small image next to the field, opening enlarged on click.
Edge band
If the chosen chamfer variant implies banding the resulting surface, an additional «Edge band» field appears — it keeps only the bands that fit by height.
Applying
After choosing the variant (and an edge band if needed), press «Apply» — the setting is saved for this side. Each side of the part can be chamfered separately.
