Factory stock remainders are accounting records for a specific material apart from the regular «full sheet». They arise when the factory receives a cut-off from a past cutting or a partial sheet, so that it isn’t lost but is tracked and used in future orders. In the system, a remainder is a quality material that has been through the warehouse: with a specified size, quantity, and storage cell.
What a remainder is in the system
Each remainder position is described by three mandatory fields:
- Size — two dimensions
x × y(length × width) in millimeters. Thickness is not entered separately — it is defined by the card of the material the leftover is linked to. Edge leftovers are not tracked in this stock (their tracking is available to wholesale companies in the CRM). - Quantity — how many units of this size are in stock.
- Stock cell — where it physically sits (e.g., «A-12»). Picked from the cell list defined in the admin panel.
The arrival date is recorded automatically (when the position was received).
The remainder has no separate price — the cost is taken from the material card itself. There are no «defective», «discounted», «scratched» labels in the records: if a remainder is in stock, it is suitable for use (otherwise it would not have been received).
How the factory admin receives a remainder
Remainders are received in the warehouse section of the production cabinet «Rests of sheet materials» — the «Add remainder» form. It is filled with:
- X, Y — the actual remainder dimensions in mm.
- Quantity — how many units of this size.
- Cell name — where it was physically placed. The cell list is maintained in the general stock settings of the factory.
After clicking «Submit», the position appears in stock and is immediately visible to your clients in the material card.
A remainder cannot be deleted — it can only be made inactive. An inactive remainder is not offered to clients and does not take part in the calculation.
What the client sees in the catalog
In the card of a material that has remainders the client sees:
- The label «The material has remainders in production from non-full sheets» — signals that this position is available not only as full sheets but also as cut-offs.
- An embedded remainder table with columns: Size (mm), Qty, Date. Clicking this area opens an expanded «Remainders» modal with the same content — convenient when there are many records.
The remainder price is not shown separately in the table — it is formed automatically in the calculation when the remainder is added to the project (see below).
How a remainder enters the client’s project
There is no separate «Buy remainder» button. Remainders are added to the project automatically via the «Order of material usage» setting on the panel card:
- «Remainders first» — the cutting algorithm first tries to place the client’s parts on the available remainders, and only what does not fit goes to new sheets.
- «Sheets first» — remainders are ignored, only new sheets are used.
- «Client remainders and sheets» — priority on client material, factory remainders are not considered (see Client material).
