#335

newgo supports automatic part name generation — when a part is created manually (in the detailing table, through the add-part dialog, or when copying/mirroring a part), the system fills in a name so the field isn't left empty.

How the name is formed

The automatic name is a short 3-character code in random order: one uppercase letter (excluding "O", to avoid confusion with zero), one lowercase letter, and one digit. For example: "Mg3", "gM3", "q7K". In some places where a part is created (e.g. adding an empty row in the detailing table), the code gets a "#" prefix — "#Mq3".

Auto-generation can be turned off in the order/firm settings — in that case the field stays empty and needs to be filled in manually.

The operator can always overwrite the generated name — the system does not block manual entry.

Imported parts are a separate case

The random code above is generated when a part is created manually in a newgo order. If a project comes into the system via import from an external design/nesting program (e.g. BASIS-Furniture Maker, DXF, and other supported formats), the part name is formed differently: most often it's inherited from the source file itself (however the part was named in the design program), or, if there's no source name, a technical label like "#N" (a sequence number/identifier assigned during import) is used instead. Such names, like the auto-generated code, can be renamed manually at any time.
