Admin panel section: Services → Service types.
What it is
A hierarchical reference of service categories into which all concrete firm services are later sorted. It is the «skeleton of the service catalog»: without a type a service cannot be linked; without a sensible type structure the client will not find the right option in the calculator.
Structure
Types are organized in a tree (parent → children). For example:
- Cutting
- Straight cut
- Curved cut
- Cutting with edge banding
- Edge
- PVC banding
- ABS banding
- Veneered
- Drilling
- Blind
- Through
- Side
- Routing
- Groove / dado
- Profile
- Engraving
- Additional services
- Packaging
- Hardware assembly
- Delivery
This is an example. The service-type tree is shared across all platform firms: it is configured by the platform administrator, and firms use the ready-made structure. See the current contents directly in the admin panel.
Fields
- Name
- Category name. Visible to the client in the calculator, so the wording must be clear to a layperson («PVC edge 2 mm», not «PVC_2mm_serv»).
- Parent type
- Where the type is nested. «— Root —» for the top level. The hierarchy can be multi-level; no depth limit, but more than 3 levels rarely makes sense.
- Description
- Internal text for managers and admins. An explanation of how this category differs from neighbors, when it is chosen. Not shown to the client.
Actions
- Create — a root type or a subtype inside an existing one.
- Edit — rename, change the parent (the subtree moves as a whole).
- Delete — possible only if the type has no linked services and no child types. Otherwise relink services first.
What matters
- A once-thought-out tree — dozens of hours of saved manager time. A chaotic set of categories leads to the same service being entered twice with different names and different prices.
- Hierarchy levels help the client filter in the calculator: upper level = fast categorization, lower = a concrete variant.
- Change the structure carefully. Moving a type to a new place changes how the service is shown to the client — and can «confuse» the client if they were used to the old position.
- This is a global platform-level reference. Changes are seen by all firms at once. If types only for your firm are needed — contact the platform administrator.
