On the «Connection» tab there is the «Upload own item names» checkbox. It changes what your clients see in the catalogue, so we will look at it separately.
What it does
The checkbox is ticked. When matches are saved (the «Matching» and «Services» tabs) and when prices are uploaded, the item name from your accounting system is passed to the program as your name for the item on the platform. This is exactly what your clients will see instead of the name from the shared catalogue.
The checkbox is not ticked. Item names are not changed — the exchange touches only codes and prices.
When this is needed
- You have your own trade names for materials, and the client should see them rather than the producer's name from the catalogue.
- You are already used to your own names in the accounting system and do not want to keep two dictionaries in your head.
When it is not needed: if the names in the accounting system are internal, abbreviated or contain internal marks — they will tell the client nothing.
Important reservations
- On the «Import items» tab own names are not uploaded. There it is the other way round: the name is taken from the catalogue into your item list. Names go to the platform only when matches and prices are saved.
- The checkbox can be switched off at any moment — the names already uploaded will remain. To bring back the catalogue names, they have to be cleared on the platform side.
