Laser activation is the premium edging method: a tape with a built-in glue layer is fed into the machine, where a laser briefly heats this layer right before pressing. The result is a near-invisible «zero» seam. In iFurn.pro this method corresponds to the LAZER value of the «Edging type».

Laser activation features

  • The tape ships with the glue layer built in — no separate glue in the machine.
  • The laser activates the layer in a fraction of a second — the thinnest possible joint.
  • The seam is practically invisible even on close inspection.
  • The tape and the service cost noticeably more than EVA and PUR.
  • Requires a specialised machine with a laser unit.

How LAZER is set in iFurn.pro

In the material row open «Material settings» → «Edging type» and pick LAZER. All parts of this material receive the laser type — a LAZER badge on every part.

The LAZER option is present in the list only if the company has enabled laser edging in its production parameters. No laser machine — no option in the list, and a laser seam cannot be ordered at this company.

LAZER on an individual part

If the company has enabled per-part type switching, the laser type is set selectively: for example, the carcass on EVA and the visible fronts on LAZER via the part's action menu. That way the premium seam is paid for only where it is seen.

What is in the estimate

If the company has registered a «laser edging» service with its own rate, parts with the LAZER type are costed by it. The rate is usually higher than EVA and PUR: both the tape itself and the amortisation of the laser equipment cost more.

Bottom line

Laser activation in iFurn.pro is the LAZER value of the «Edging type» on the material or the part. Availability is determined by the company's equipment; the parts' sides go to production with a LAZER mark, and the machine runs in laser mode.
