When the client brings a tape from their own stock, they should not pay for the material — it is their material. The «Client material» form has a dedicated checkbox for this: «Consigned material».

What the checkbox does

Tick «Consigned material» — the system zeroes the material price and fixes a service currency. The «Currency» and «Price» fields then disappear from the form: there is no point setting them, the material is not part of the bill.

What the client pays for

The consignment scheme is fair and simple: the material is the client's, the work is the company's. The company does not bill for the tape itself (its price is zero), but the edging service is charged as usual — by the metres of edged sides and the company's rate. The same goes for your own board: the material is free, the cutting and processing are paid.

When to uncheck it

If a tape is not consigned but simply missing from the company catalog, and the client is willing to pay for it, the checkbox is left off — then the «Currency» and «Price» fields appear and the material enters the costing with its own value. These are two different cases: «brought my own» (consigned, price 0) and «bought a rare item from the company» (normal price).

Bottom line

«Consigned material» is the «client's material, not our bill» switch: the price is zeroed, the price fields hide, the services are charged. An unchecked box means a material with a normal price. The choice depends on who pays for the tape itself.
