EVA, PUR and laser activation are three ways to fix the edge tape to a part's edge. In iFurn.pro the glue method is called the «Edging type» and is set at the material level of the order: by default all parts of one board are edged with the same type. If desired, the company can also allow changing the type on an individual part.
What each method means
- EVA — the standard hot-melt glue. The most common and inexpensive. The seam is visible on close inspection.
- PUR — polyurethane glue. Stronger and more water-resistant than EVA. The seam is thinner and less visible.
- Laser activation — tape with a built-in glue layer activated by a laser. A near-invisible «zero» seam. Requires a special machine.
Where the edging type is chosen
In the material row of the order, open «Material settings» (the settings icon). There is a dropdown «Edging type» with the options EVA, PUR, LAZER. The chosen type applies to all parts of this material.
The list shows only the types the company actually has: if production has no PUR machine, the PUR option is absent; no laser line — no LAZER. Type availability is configured by the company in its production parameters.
The type on an individual part
Every part in the table shows a badge with its current type — EVA, PUR or LAZER. If the company has enabled per-part type switching (a production parameter), these three values become clickable in the part's action menu — and the technologist can give an individual part a type different from the material: for example, the whole cabinet on EVA, the fronts on PUR.
If per-part switching is not enabled by the company, the badge simply shows the type inherited from the material.
What goes to production
The chosen type is propagated to the part's sides: every edged side receives an EVA, PUR or LAZER mark and goes to production with the order — the machine operator sees which method to glue every part with.
What is in the estimate
The edging service can be one common rate or split by method — the company manager decides. If the company's catalog has separate services «EVA edging», «PUR edging», «laser edging», they appear in the estimate separately with their own rates.
