Every part of the project has 3D parameters — they define exactly how the part sits in the assembled 3D model of the product: its position and rotation in space. This data either comes in when importing from 3D editors (Bazis-Furniture Maker, SketchUp), or it can be set and corrected by hand.
The «3D» button on a part
In the list of parts every part has a small «3D» button. Clicking it opens the panel of the part's 3D parameters.
What can be set
- Position X / Y / Z
- The coordinates of the part in the scene space (in millimeters). They define where the part is located in the assembled model.
- Rotation Rx / Ry / Rz
- The rotation angles of the part around the X, Y and Z axes (in degrees). They define the orientation of the part — for example, whether it is a vertical side panel or a horizontal shelf.
- Position (text)
- An arbitrary text label of the part — for example, an article number or the position number on the assembly diagram.
- Part type
- A choice from a list of types (side, shelf, front, bottom and so on). The type helps to correctly understand the role of the part in the product.
How it is applied
- Click «3D» on the part you need.
- Change the coordinates, angles, label or type.
- Click «Save» — the model is rebuilt taking the new parameters into account.
If 3D parameters are set on at least some of the parts, the «3D model of the product» item becomes available in the project header — there you can view the assembled model and export the assembly guide. More details — in the article «3D model of the product and the assembly guide».
