Edging and drilling services are not picked by hand: the calculation chooses them itself, from the features of the part and the material. The rule is worth knowing — it explains why seemingly identical edging on two parts landed in different services, and which price you actually need to change.

Two matrices, two orders

Straight and curved edging are matched by different matrices, and the order of the features differs between them. The same part may get different services on its straight and its curved stretch — that is not a calculation error.

Straight edging — the features in this order:

  1. Customer-supplied material — either the board or the band. It overrides everything else: three separate services by edging type.
  2. A hemmed part (a doubled one) — its own services, also by edging type.
  3. The edging type: EVA, PUR or laser. Anything that is neither EVA nor PUR counts as laser.
  4. The kind of material: worktop, acrylic board, chipboard, chipboard 22–32 mm.
  5. The board thickness.
  6. The band thickness — compared against a firm setting.

Curved edging goes in a different order: first the hemmed part, then the worktop in all its variants, and only after that customer material, acrylic, board thickness and edging type.

One difference here matters more than the rest: in the curved matrix “customer material” means the customer’s board only. A customer’s band on the firm’s board does not count towards it, although on a straight section it does.

Hence the practical consequence: a customer-supplied worktop that is hemmed gets the customer-material service on a straight stretch and the hemming service on a curved one.

The thickness limits are inclusive

The service for boards 8–15 mm takes exactly 8 and exactly 15 as well — the most common thicknesses. The service for “over 25 mm” takes exactly 25 too. This is deliberate: strict “greater” and “less” threw the boundary thicknesses into ordinary edging, that is, charged them at a different price.

What the firm configures

  • The “thick edge” threshold — a production parameter. The band thickness is compared with it wherever a service is split into “up to” and “over”. If the parameter is not set, 1 mm is used.
  • Treat curved edging as EVA — a separate parameter. When it is on, all curved edging goes through the EVA services whatever the real edging type is.

Two material flags that are easy to confuse

  • The material has no edging — the service is not charged at all: no line for the customer and no entry in the material counters.
  • Do not account for the band itself — the edging service is charged as usual, but the physical length of the band goes into the cost of the material rather than into the raw-material note. This flag has no effect on material sold by whole sheets.

Drilling

Large holes are split into two services: exactly 60 mm stays with the “60 mm hole” service, and anything larger goes to “over 60 mm”. Before that a 100 mm hole was charged at the price of a 60 mm one.

The selection only says which service is charged. The names and the prices of the services are set by the firm in the services section of the admin panel.
