The edge cut (letter C) is the only processing in iFurn.pro with two modes: a ready-made variant from the company catalog or your own geometry. Switching is via the «Standard» / «Custom» radio buttons right in the «Edge processing» window.
The standard cut
Picking a variant from the company catalog — like other processings: a dropdown with the selected variant's picture. The angle and parameters are baked into the variant; if the variant allows edging the cut, a band list filtered by the variant's thresholds appears below.
The custom cut
The «Custom» mode opens three fields:
- «Side» — Face or Reverse: which plane the bevel starts from. Next to the angle field there is a cut diagram, and it mirrors when the side changes.
- «Offset» — the offset from the base. The system itself caps it at half the part's thickness: enter more and the value is trimmed.
- «Angle» — from 5° to 45°. Over 45 it is trimmed to 45; under 5 it is brought up to 5 when leaving the field.
The band on a custom cut
A beveled edge is longer than a straight one, and the usual «width ≥ thickness» check is not enough. iFurn.pro computes the bevel length by geometry: (part thickness − offset) / cos(angle) — and offers only tapes wider than this length plus the technological margin. The steeper the angle, the wider the tape needed — the list narrows before your eyes as the angle changes.
The band list may not appear at all: the firm may switch off banding of a free-form cut with the setting «Enable end-cut edge banding» in the firm settings. Then there is no band field on a free-form cut, and any band already set on such cuts is cleared. Standard cuts from the catalogue and inset handles are not affected.
The red letter C
If an assigned cut's angle is outside the allowed range, the C letter in the table and the variant caption in the window turn red — a signal to open the window and fix the parameters.
Bottom line
The standard cut is «pick a variant and done»; the custom one is three fields (side, offset, angle) with automatic limiters and a geometric band match. The system will not let the numbers go wrong, and a red letter highlights an error in a catalog variant.
