For postforming materials (thickness 12, 28, 38 or 39 mm), a «Templates» button appears on the material row on the detailing page — it opens a wizard that assembles a compound countertop of the required shape (straight, L-shaped, U-shaped, T-shaped and others — the set of shapes depends on the material and is loaded from the server) in one action, instead of creating and joining parts manually.
How to open it
The button is only available for an editable order and only for postforming materials. For client-supplied material the wizard is unavailable — a placeholder «Templates not available for client material» is shown instead.
How it works
- Click «Templates» on the desired material.
- A grid of shape cards opens — each with a picture and a name (straight, L-shaped, U-shaped, T-shaped, etc.).
- After choosing a shape, a form with parameters specific to it appears (joint angles, joint mode, edge banding — see the separate article «Joint parameters in the countertop wizard»).
- Fill in the parameters and click «Create».
What happens after submitting
The server immediately returns a fully assembled set of ready-made parts — 2 parts for the L-shape, 3 or more for the U-shape, depending on the shape. Each new part already has the correct geometry, material, edge banding and the required CNC joint operation («lock») — nothing needs to be drawn manually. All new parts are inserted into the part list right next to each other; the positions of the other part groups shift automatically.
Relation to the templates catalog
The joint the wizard creates automatically (the «lock») is the same template available separately in the general CNC templates catalog (the «Countertops» section, «Countertop lock» template). If the joint parameters need to be changed after the parts have been created, you don't have to rebuild the whole countertop with the wizard — you can edit that template directly on the already created part via the regular templates catalog.
The operator can always override any form field manually — the wizard only speeds up the typical scenario.
