The primary way to put a band on a part in iFurn.pro is the dropdowns in the «Edge banding» column of the parts table. Each part has five dropdowns: four sides plus a fifth one — «all sides at once». This is the full edging interface; there is also a quick keyboard mode (see the separate article), but the full one is the natural place to start.
Where it is
The «Edge banding» column is shown in the parts table. If you do not see it, open the table settings (the gear icon above the table) and enable the «Edge banding» toggle.
Four sides
A part row has four dropdowns, each with its own side icon: Top, Bottom, Left, Right. Each list contains:
- «No edging» — the first item: the side stays bare.
- The order's bands in the format
[width/thickness] name— for example,[36/0.4] PVC white gloss.
Pick a band — the side is edged. Pick «No edging» — the band is removed. Every side is independent: a thick 2 mm band can go on the face side and a thin 0.4 mm one on the hidden sides.
The fifth dropdown: all 4 sides in one click
Next to the four sides there is a fifth dropdown with an all-sides icon. Picking a band there sets it on Top, Bottom, Left and Right at once — one action instead of four. The «No edging» item in that list removes the band from all four sides at once.
Why the list does not show all the company's bands
Each side's list is filtered automatically:
- Only bands whose width suits this board's thickness are shown (taking into account the minimum processing margin from the company's production settings).
- If the material has «matching band» mode enabled, only bands pre-linked to this board by the company manager remain in the list.
So picking an unsuitable band is simply impossible — mistakes are cut off before the machine.
Indicators next to the dropdown
- The
||symbol after the list — edging of this side goes with pre-jointing (preliminary milling of the edge). For straight edging this is the standard mode (see the article on automatic rules). - A highlighted side icon — the side has curved edging. It is set only automatically — by a shaped template; it cannot be switched on by hand.
- A letter next to the list (for example R, H, C, F) — the side has additional edge processing: rounding, a recessed handle, a mitre cut or a chamfer. Clicking the letter opens its settings.
What happens after the choice
iFurn.pro immediately recalculates the part's dimensions taking the band thickness on each side into account and updates the costing: the metres of banding and the edging service are added to the order automatically. There is no «save» button in the row — every change applies instantly.
