The technologist in iFurn.pro works with an already prepared catalog of bands and services — the company configured everything in advance (see the previous article). The technologist's task is to pick a band on each side of the part and, when needed, open the edge processing window. Here is what lives where.
The edging column in the part row
The part row has four sides with their icons: Top, Bottom, Left, Right. Each side has:
- The band dropdown — «No edging» and all available bands in the format
[width/thickness] name. - The
||symbol — the side's pre-jointing indicator. - A processing letter (R, H, C, F) — if the side has additional edge processing assigned; clicking the letter opens the processing window.
The band list filters automatically: only bands whose width suits this board's thickness remain, and (with «matching band» mode on) only the bands the company manager matched to this board. A fifth dropdown with the all-sides icon sets the band on all four sides at once.
The glue type: a badge on the part
The glue method (EVA / PUR / laser) is not tied to the band choice — it is the «Edging type» set in the material settings and inherited by each of its parts. On the part it shows as an EVA, PUR or LAZER badge. If the company has enabled per-part switching, the badge in the action menu becomes clickable.
The «Edge processing» window
Additional edge processing is assigned not in the row but in a separate window. It opens in two ways: via the «Edge processing» icon in the part row (shown if the company has enabled the edge processing interface) or by clicking the processing letter next to a side.
The window has the same four sides, and for each one:
- «Processing type» — the variants the company configured: edge rounding, recessed handles, mitre cut, chamfering. What the company does not offer is not in the list.
- The specific variant — a dropdown of the chosen type's catalog variants, with a picture of the selected one.
- For the mitre cut — a «template or custom» choice; in custom the technologist enters the angle (5°–45°) and the offset, plus the operation side.
- A band — a separate list appears where the processing needs its own band: handles with edging, the custom cut, and cuts that allow edging.
- «Apply» — the button appears after a change and saves the side's setting.
What is calculated automatically
- The part's overall size — from the net size and the chosen band thickness on each side.
- The length of the edged sides.
- The band material cost — length × catalog band price.
- The edging service cost — length × service rate.
What the technologist does not choose
- Which machine will be used — that is the company's decision.
- The machine control program — it is generated separately, not in the part card.
- Pre-jointing and curvedness — they are set automatically (see the band assignment section's articles).
Bottom line
The technologist's workplace in iFurn.pro has two levels: the band is set right in the part row, while the fine edge setup — processing type, variant, cut angle and band — lives in the «Edge processing» window. The EVA/PUR/laser glue type is set on the material and visible as a badge on the part.
