When the parts of the project have their 3D parameters set (position and rotation), the project can be viewed as an assembled 3D model of the product. This is both a visual check of the assembly and a ready assembly guide for the workshop or the customer.
Where the 3D data comes from
- From the import of 3D projects — when loading from Bazis-Furniture Maker (the 3D plugin) or SketchUp PRO, the 3D placement of the parts is carried over automatically.
- By hand — through the «3D» button on a part (position, rotation, type). More details in the article «3D parameters of a part».
How to open the 3D model
- Open the project in the editor.
- In the vertical menu (the project header) choose the «3D model of the product» item with the cube icon.
- A large window with an interactive 3D scene opens: the model can be rotated, zoomed and inspected from every side.
The «3D model of the product» item appears only when at least one part has correct 3D data (position, rotation) and overall sizes. If the item is missing, the 3D placement has not been set yet.
What is inside the window
- List of products
- On the left — switching between the products of the project. The first item is «The whole project assembled»: all products are shown in a single scene, the way they stand together.
- Step-by-step assembly
- The product is split into assembly stages: each step shows the parts and hardware to be installed at exactly that stage. All captions are automatically translated into the account language.
- Export to PDF
- The buttons in the window save the assembly guide to PDF in three formats: a brief overview with a specification — for order picking; a full document for the whole project — for the assembler; a separate PDF for a single product — when a specific cabinet is being assembled. Such a PDF is convenient to hand over for assembly.
If a part is placed wrong
Close the window, click «3D» on the problem part, correct the position or rotation and save — then open «3D model of the product» again. The model will be rebuilt taking the edits into account.
