A packing mark records that a particular part of the order has already been packed. The marks are set in production as packing goes, so as to see what is assembled and what is not yet, and not to pack the same part twice.

How a part is marked

A part is marked as packed by scanning or entering its number. The mark saves:

  • which part and exactly which of its copies (by the unique number);
  • who packed it — the employee and the workplace (equipment);
  • the date and time of the mark.

So for each part it is visible who packed it and when.

Copy control

If a part comes in several copies, each copy is marked separately by its number. When the control of unique copies is on, the system cannot be fooled: the same copy cannot be packed twice, and marking more copies than there are in the order will not work.

Removing a mark

An erroneous mark can be removed from a part — it returns to the unpacked. The history of removed marks is kept. If needed, all packing marks for the order can be removed at once — for example, to repack it from scratch.
