EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) is the most common edging glue and the starting «Edging type» in iFurn.pro. If the company has not changed the settings, parts are edged with EVA.
EVA glue properties
- Hot-melt glue, applied in the machine right before the tape is pressed to the edge.
- Low price is the main advantage. EVA is the furniture industry's mass workhorse glue.
- The seam is visible on close inspection but neat enough in everyday settings.
- Sensitive to temperature and humidity. For kitchens, bathrooms, outdoors — PUR is better.
- Works with most tape types (PVC, ABS, melamine).
How EVA is set in iFurn.pro
The edging type is a material setting in the order. In the material row open «Material settings» → «Edging type» and pick EVA. All parts of this material receive the EVA type — it is shown as a badge on every part.
The EVA option is present in the list when it is enabled in the company's production parameters. For most companies EVA is the base type, always available.
EVA on an individual part
If the company has enabled per-part type switching, EVA can be clicked in the part's action menu — and that part will be edged with EVA regardless of the material's type. A typical scenario: the material is set to PUR for the fronts, while the inner shelves are switched to EVA to save money.
What matters to the technologist
EVA is the base option. If the project has no special seam requirements (wet zone, premium segment), EVA covers the task. The band is chosen in the side dropdown as usual — the edging type does not affect band choice; it defines the machine's operating mode and, if the company configured it so, the service rate in the estimate.
Bottom line
EVA in iFurn.pro is a value of the «Edging type» set on the material (and, with the company option enabled, on an individual part). Every edged side goes to production with an EVA mark, and the machine operator knows which glue to run.
