The industry uses special tapes for curved banding — flexible PVC/ABS and laser tapes with built-in glue. In iFurn.pro these are not separate catalog categories: a tape is a tape, with a name, width, thickness, colour. The "flexible or not" call is made by the firm manager when adding the tape to the catalog; the technologist sees the result in the tape dropdown.

What is recorded for a tape in the firm catalog

When the firm manager adds a tape to the catalog, they specify:

  • Name (which goes into the dropdown).
  • Width and thickness — shown in [width/thickness] format.
  • Colour.
  • Link to panels (for the "tape matched to panel" mode).

"Flexibility" is not stored as a separate tag. A flexible tape is a material that the firm manager adds to the catalog with an appropriate name. In the catalog it looks the same as a regular tape — the difference is in the name and the material's own properties.

What the technologist sees in the dropdown

On a side of a part the technologist opens the tape dropdown and sees:

  • The "Choose" option.
  • The "No banding" option.
  • Each tape in the form [width/thickness] name.

There is no separate "flexible" or "laser" label in the list. If the firm manager wants to flag this, they write it into the tape's name — for example PVC Soft 1.0 flexible or PVC white laser. Then the technologist sees it right in the name.

What iFurn.pro does not do

  • It does not suggest "pick a flexible tape because the part has a curved contour".
  • It does not auto-filter the list by "laser / EVA" depending on the radius.
  • It does not warn "this tape won't fit, you need a flexible one".
  • It does not auto-add a "special tape for curves" surcharge.

Industry hints

If your part has a curved contour and the firm catalog offers a choice of tapes, use these guides:

  • The tighter the radius — the thinner the tape needed. The thickness is visible in [width/thickness].
  • For tight radii ask the firm manager whether the catalog has flexible or laser tapes — that's an inventory question, not a UI one.
  • A laser tape requires a machine with a laser head. If the firm doesn't have one, laser tapes won't appear in the catalog at all.

If the right type isn't in the catalog

  1. Ask the firm manager — the tape may already be there under a different name.
  2. Ask the manager to add a new tape specifically for your project.
  3. Bring your own via "Customer's own materials" — the tape will be available only in the current order.

Bottom line

In iFurn.pro the «edge-banding type» (EVA/PUR/laser) is a material setting, not a property of the band; a band in the firm catalog has a name, width, thickness and colour. The technologist reads the name in the dropdown themselves and decides whether the tape fits the part's curved contour.
