The second compatibility axis is color. A board in the company catalog can have a list of «native» tapes approved for its decor. In the order this link works through three elements of the project's materials list.
Where the links come from
The list of linked tapes arrives with the material from the company catalog — the «tape ↔ board» pairs are configured by the manager in advance. In the order the technologist does not edit the links but uses them.
The «Band for the material» menu
In the project's materials list, a board with linked tapes has a «Band for the material» menu button. It opens a window with the linked tapes not yet in the order: each with a checkbox, in the format [code] name. Tick the needed ones — the «Add» button brings them into the order. If all the linked tapes are already in the project, the window says: «The bands already exist in the project».
The «Matching band only» checkbox
Next to it is the «Matching band only» switch. On — the side dropdowns of this material's parts show only the linked tapes; a foreign one cannot be picked. Off — all the order's tapes suiting by width are available.
The same mode is also available in «Material settings» — the «Band usage» switch with «Any» / «Matching only» positions.
The typical route
- Add the board to the project.
- Via «Band for the material» add its «native» tapes to the order.
- Turn on «Matching band only».
- From then on any choice on the parts' sides is guaranteed to come from the approved pairs.
Bottom line
The «tape ↔ board» links are the company's catalog discipline carried into the order: one menu adds the approved tapes, one checkbox cuts off all the rest. Mismatched pairs become impossible not by a warning but by the absence of choice.
