Import from Woody into iFurn.pro goes through the intermediate Giblab.com service (not to be confused with GitLab - these are different products). From Woody you export a pair of files - the specification (.WES) and the geometry (.XML) - upload them to Giblab, let it process them, and then bring the resulting .project into iFurn.pro.
This route transfers the parts list with drillings, routing and edge banding - more than a plain Excel import can.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1. Build the project in Woody
- Create the project in Woody.
- Make sure all materials, edge bands and operations are assigned.
Step 2. Export the specification (.WES)
- Open "File" -> "Export".
- In the dialog set the project name.
- Pick file type "Product specification" (*.WES).
- Click "Save".
Step 3. Export XML
- Open "File" -> "Export" again.
- This time pick file type "XML" (*.XML).
- Use the same project name (for convenience).
- Click "Save".
- In the "Export settings" dialog tick the required parameters and click "OK".
- Confirm file creation with "OK" once more.
Step 4. Process in Giblab.com
- Go to Giblab.com (not to be confused with GitLab - these are different products).
- Create a new project.
- In "Import from other programs" pick Woody2.
- Upload both saved files:
.WESand.XML. - Tune the import parameters and click "OK".
Step 5. Export from Giblab as .project
- After Giblab finishes the import click "Export".
- Save the project with the .project extension.
Step 6. Upload into iFurn.pro
- Open iFurn.pro.
- Open "Project import".
- Pick the saved
.projectfile. - Upload - you get the full parts list with drillings, routing and edge banding.
Why Giblab as an intermediary
The Woody format (.WES + .XML) is the Woody-native exchange format for furniture projects. iFurn.pro does not parse it directly, but Giblab.com does: the service converts Woody data into its internal format, drillings and routing included. After that the .project from Giblab is trivially imported into iFurn.pro.
This pipeline is reliable because both systems - Giblab and iFurn.pro - speak the same .project format.
What carries over
- All parts with dimensions
- Edge banding per side
- Drillings - coordinates, diameters, depths
- Routing
- Materials (with mapping in the iFurn.pro import dialog)
Common issues
- "Cannot find Woody2 in Giblab"
- You may have opened a project of a different type in Giblab. Create a new project specifically with import enabled - the list of available imports, including Woody2, will then appear.
- ".WES and .XML uploaded but the import did not complete"
- Check that both files belong to the same project - Giblab pairs them by name and structure. If the names differ, rename them to match.
- "Materials were not recognized in iFurn.pro"
- In the iFurn.pro import dialog match the materials manually - pick the right one from your database or create a new one.
- "Part dimensions differ from Woody"
- Check Woody's export settings (the "Export settings" dialog). Some required options may be unticked - repeat the XML export with the right boxes checked.
