Import from SketchUp into iFurn.pro transfers a product with parts, edge banding and drillings. It uses the free ABF (AutoBuildFurniture) plugin, which exports the project to DXF. Plain DXF without a plugin structure cannot be read: the file has to be exported by the ABF or the GAVA plugin.
What is transferred
- Part geometry (panels, cut-out shapes) with labels.
- Materials and edge banding.
- Drillings and machining.
Readable names
By default, layer names from SketchUp/ABF are technical (numeric prefixes, underscores). During import they are automatically converted to a readable form — materials and parts are named just as in the source project.
Common import engine
SketchUp import has been moved to the common engine, like the other sources: a file queue with progress by stages, a single «Products» window (selection, renaming, merging sections) and a 3D preview of the whole assembly before loading it into an order.
How to import
- Install the ABF plugin in SketchUp and export the product to DXF.
- Open the import page and upload the file.
- Check the assembly in 3D and the composition of the products — and create an order.
The second plugin: GAVA
DXF from SketchUp is accepted not only from ABF: a file exported by the GAVA plugin is read in the same way. There is nothing to choose — the import recognises the plugin by the markers inside the file. If one DXF carries the markers of both plugins, the ABF ones are used.
Part sizes are measured from the geometry rather than taken from the marker: a GAVA marker keeps the size to 0.1 mm only, so a 791.5 mm part would turn into 791.6 mm and the contour machining would no longer fit. If a GAVA marker cannot be recognised, the import says so plainly and asks you to send the file to support.
