After pressing «Add», your own band appears in the project and then lives almost like any other order band — with a couple of differences that always make it recognizable.
The client material marker
In the project's materials list, your own band is marked with a user icon — the «client material» badge. By it you instantly see that the tape is not from the company catalog but was entered manually into this order.
How it is used on parts
Your own band enters the order's common band list and appears in the part side dropdowns on a par with the regular ones. The same width rule applies: a tape shows on a side only if its width passes the board's thickness (accounting for the technological margin). In the quick mode it has the same thickness color coding, and a color marker can be assigned to it — like any order band.
How it differs from a catalog one
- Only in this order. Your own band does not enter the company's common catalog — it is a one-off project item.
- Its own unique number. The system gives client materials their own numbering that does not overlap with the catalog.
- No «matching» links. Your own band is not in the board's linked-tapes list, so under «matching band only» mode it has to be picked as an exception or the material temporarily switched to «Any».
Your own board — by the same logic
The same window also registers your own board (material type «Board material»): it has a length, a count, a usage order and even an «Add material remnant» block for tracking offcuts. A band is simpler — width and thickness are enough.
Bottom line
Your own band is a full-fledged order band with a «client material» mark: it is picked on sides by the usual width rule, but lives only in this project and does not participate in «matching» links. When the item is adopted by the company catalog, the manager registers it — and then it is available to all orders.
