The main compatibility rule in iFurn.pro is single and built into the system: the tape's width must be no less than the part's thickness plus a technological margin. A tape failing this rule simply does not exist for the part.
The formula
A tape suits a part if its width ≥ the part's thickness + the processing margin. The margin is a company production parameter: it covers pre-jointing and the tape positioning tolerance on the machine. Example: an 18 mm board with a 2 mm margin needs a tape of 20 mm or wider; a 19 mm tape will not appear in the list.
Where the rule fires
- The side's dropdown — shows only suitable tapes. Too-narrow ones are hidden.
- The «Bands» group form — applied to parts of different thickness, the band is set only on those it suits; the other sides stay as they were.
- Replacing a tape across the order — parts the new tape does not suit are skipped.
Why there are no warnings
iFurn.pro shows no «tape incompatible» modals — an incompatible option is unavailable from the start. The mistake cannot be made, so there is nothing to warn about. The same goes for group operations: unsuitable parts are silently skipped rather than blocking the whole operation.
A tape «vanished» from the list?
If a tape exists in the order's band list but is not visible on a part side — it is almost always this filter: the tape is narrower than the part's thickness. The second candidate is the material's «Matching only» mode (see the next article). The order's band list itself is untouched by the filter — the tape stays in the project and remains available to parts of a suitable thickness.
Bottom line
Width compatibility is automation without dialogs: one rule, three application points (side, group, order-wide replacement). The technologist picks from an already filtered list and physically cannot set a too-narrow tape.
