When the customer sees a "curved banding" line in the quote with its own price, that price is not computed by iFurn.pro "with a formula of its own". It comes from the services the firm manager has pre-configured in the firm catalog. If the firm split straight and curved banding into separate items with different rates — the customer sees that. If the firm kept a single general service — there will be one line.
What the firm stores in the services catalog
In the settings, the firm manager defines the services offered to customers. Each service has:
- A name (for example, "Straight banding", "Curved banding").
- A unit (usually — linear metre).
- A rate in the firm's currency.
- A billing rule — which sides / parts the service applies to.
This is entirely on the firm's side. The technologist while creating a project doesn't tick "count this part as curved" — that follows from the part template and the service settings.
How the sum is built
Once a part is added to the project:
- For each side, the selected tape is recorded (or "no banding").
- The length of banded sides is computed.
- Tape cost = length × tape price per linear metre (from the firm catalog).
- Banding service cost = length × service rate (from the firm settings).
If the firm configured curved banding as a separate service with its own rate, that rate is applied to curved sections. If there is no such service, the general banding rate applies.
What iFurn.pro doesn't do
- Doesn't auto-add a "special tape surcharge" — a surcharge is realised through choosing a more expensive tape in the catalog.
- Doesn't amortise "robot programming" — that concept doesn't exist in the system, because iFurn.pro doesn't operate at machine level.
- Doesn't compute "shift throughput" — that's outside the project UI.
- Doesn't offer "volume discount for identical contours" automatically — the discount is set manually by the firm manager.
What the customer sees in the quote
The split of services in the order calculation is fully driven by the firm's settings:
- If there are separate services — the customer sees, for example, "Straight banding: 12 m × rate = sum" and "Curved banding: 4 m × rate = sum".
- If there's a single service — there will be one line "Banding: 16 m × rate = sum".
- The tape itself goes as a separate materials line.
What the firm manager can do
In the admin area, the firm manager sets:
- Which services appear in the catalog.
- The per-metre rates for each service.
- Which categories of parts or sides the service applies to.
- Individual discounts or surcharges for specific customers.
If the firm wants to split straight and curved banding into separate quote lines, they do it in the admin. iFurn.pro just follows the settings.
If the customer needs more detail
In the order quote the customer sees what the firm decided to show. If curved banding isn't broken out as a separate line, that's the firm's choice. To learn the price structure, the customer can ask the firm manager directly.
Bottom line
The price of curved banding in iFurn.pro is "what the firm configured in the services catalog, multiplied by metres". Not a formula, not amortisation, not markup. Price transparency is provided by the transparency of the firm's catalog and its service rates.
