The quick part-adding form is a compact window with a minimal set of fields. It opens from the project header: "Add" → "Part"; the window title is "Adding a new part".
Which fields it has
The form has exactly five fields, in this order:
- Part name;
- Material;
- Length;
- Width;
- Quantity.
There are no edge-band fields in this form — banding is assigned later, in the parts list. The name is filled in automatically with a short code or left empty, depending on the company settings.
Working from the keyboard
Tab moves through the fields in the same order: name → material → length → width → quantity → the "Add" button.
The cursor is not placed in the form automatically. Right after the window opens you have to click into a field — only then do Tab and Esc start working.
Enter from a text field submits the form: the part is added and the window closes. For the next part the form has to be opened again. If the part material matches the material selected in the parts list, after about a second the cursor moves by itself into the parts table, to the first cell.
Esc closes the window, but only once the focus is already inside the form. Until you click into the form, Esc does nothing.
When to use it
The form is handy when you need to add a few parts in a row without opening the full part card. It is not meant for bulk entry of dozens or hundreds of parts — for that, importing the parts list from Excel is faster.
