#338

Every part has a separate "Information" field — free-form text that travels with the part through the entire production cycle.

Where the information is visible

  • In the part card — to the project author.
  • On the part label at packing — to the workshop operator.
  • In the order’s summary print forms — to the manager.
  • In the change log — for audit.

When to use

  • Non-standard processing requirements ("do not drill from side X").
  • Assembly hints ("joins with part 12").
  • Markings for the client ("show in the shop").

The field can be edited any time before the order is closed.

Position

Separate from "Information", the part editor has a "Position" field — continuous numbering of the part within the project. Unlike the free-form "Information" text, this is a numeric identifier for quickly referencing the part in correspondence, on the drawing, and in print forms.
