There are two different settings in the system that are easy to confuse. Both are set on the material — not on a part and not on a part side.
Two settings, not one
- Edge banding type — how the band is attached to the edge: EVA, PUR or laser activation. See the article "Edge banding glue methods" for details.
- Glue type — the color of the glue line: Transparent, White or Black. See the article "The glue type: Transparent, White, Black" for details.
Note: in the interface "Glue type" means precisely the seam color. EVA and PUR belong to "Edge banding type", not to "Glue type".
Where they are set
Both settings live in "Material settings" — the settings icon in the material row of the order. The selected value applies to all parts of that material at once: when it is changed, the system rewrites it on every part of the board.
As a rule the edge banding type cannot be changed for a single part — in the part card it is displayed but not editable. That option only becomes available if the company has enabled the corresponding setting. Even then there is one value for the whole part: different types for different sides of it cannot be chosen.
By default a material gets the EVA banding type and transparent glue. Which types are available in the list at all depends on the company equipment: EVA, PUR and laser are enabled separately.
Effect on cost
The edge banding type affects the price: different types correspond to different banding services with their own rates, and this is shown separately in the order calculation.
