#383

On the panel material card in the project there is a «Edges in color only» checkbox. When it is on, cutting automatically uses only edges from the «Edge for material» list (recommended by the factory). But it cannot be enabled if the parts of this material already have edges that are NOT on that list — the system blocks the toggle and shows a modal that explains the conflict.

When the conflict appears

Before turning on the checkbox the system checks every part of this material. If at least one side of a part has an edge not in the panel’s `connected_band`, the toggle is cancelled and the modal «Parts with mismatching edges» opens with the message:

«Cannot enable «Edges in color only»: the parts have edges that are not in the linked list. Replace or delete these edges first.»

What the modal shows

The list of conflicting parts. For each part:

  • [ID] and part name.
  • Sides with the problematic edge — numbered with a side icon (top / bottom / left / right).
  • ID and name of the edge that sits on this side and is not in the linked list.

If there are more than 200 conflicts, the first 200 are shown plus the line «Total conflicts: N». This is a viewing limit, not an operation cancellation.

How to resolve the conflict

Three ways:

  1. Replace the «extra» edges with one of the linked ones. If the project has a suitable edge from the «Edge for material» list, use edge replacement on all parts.
  2. Remove the «extra» edges from the conflict sides of the part — manually on the part card or via mass deletion of an edge from the project (see Deleting materials and edges).
  3. Extend the «Edge for material» list on the panel card on the factory side — add the «extra» edges to connected_band. They become «correct» and the checkbox enables.

Why this checkbox exists at all

When the factory wants every part in cutting to have a visually consistent edge (e.g., the same edge decor as the panel), this mode is enabled. After turning it on, the automatic edge selection in cutting uses only edges the factory intended for this panel. Read more — Edge-to-panel binding (connected_band).
