Nine out of ten parts in a furniture project are rectangles: shelves, doors, side panels, tops. Each has four straight edges, and each edge can get its own band: a thick 2 mm band on the visible front edge, a thin 0.4 mm one on the back edge against the wall, and whatever the design requires on the sides. Banding a straight edge is the most refined scenario in production: machine, tape, glue, knife, roller — and the edge is done in seconds.
In this section iFurn.pro describes how to assign a band to the four sides of a part, how “top” differs from “front” in project terms and how edge pre-jointing before banding works: the cutter takes a thin layer off the panel and the band lands on a flat edge. Pre-jointing is not chosen in the cabinet — it is set automatically together with the band, and the thickness of the removed layer is defined by the factory in its settings.
Here too — combinations of band thickness on different sides of one part, typical scenarios (thick PVC on the front, 0.4 mm elsewhere) and how iFurn.pro automatically recalculates the clean dimensions of a part taking into account the band thickness on each side.

ReadWhen you open a rectangular part card in a iFurn.pro project, you see four rows for edge band tape — one per side: Top, Bottom, Left, Right. Each side has its own schematic icon, and each has an independent set of settin…
ReadEdge pre-jointing is an operation on an edge banding machine that in iFurn.pro accompanies every straight-edge banding. On the machine the part edge passes through a milling unit that takes off a thin layer of material, …
ReadWhen a technologist opens the part card and sees four edge-tape fields, the temptation is to put the same tape everywhere. It is simple, fast and asks for no thought. But that "same everywhere" is exactly where money sli…
ReadThe three part sizes — "before trimming, without edge", "after trimming, without edge" and "part with edge" — are linked by a recalculation that iFurn.pro performs itself. It is done not for the part as a whole but separ…
ReadSetting up straight edging in iFurn.pro means working with the part's four sides right in the parts table row. The band is set in place; additional edge processing, if needed, is configured in a separate window. No tabs …
