The program is installed on one computer in the workshop — the one that sees the machine folders. Before installing, check five things: they cover almost every support request of the «it does not download» and «it does not copy» kind.
The computer
- Windows 10 or 11.
- The computer must be switched on while work is going on: the program downloads orders only while it is running. Night orders will arrive in the morning, after the start.
- Administrator rights are not needed for normal work. They will be needed once — if you are going to register the program as a Windows service.
- The archive contains
vc_redist.x64.exe— install it if the program does not start and Windows complains about missing libraries.
The orders folder
- A local folder with write rights, by default
C:\orders. This is exactly where the unpacked orders are placed. - Disk space: orders are kept for as many days as set in the
time.txtfile (60 by default). Multiply the average order size by the number of orders over that period — that is how much you will need. - The orders folder should not be the same folder the files for the machines are copied into: you would get copying into itself.
Internet access
- Outgoing HTTPS (port 443) to the address of the iFurn.pro platform. The program does not «let» anyone in from outside — there is no need to open incoming ports.
- If the firm uses a proxy, it must be set in the Windows settings — the program takes the system settings.
- Without the internet the already downloaded orders stay in place and open, but new ones do not arrive.
Machine folders
- All the folders you plan to hand files over to must open from this computer: a mapped network drive (
Z:\) or a network path like\\server\cnc. - Write rights to these folders. Read rights are not enough: the program not only puts files there but also removes outdated ones.
- Check the access from Explorer in advance — if a folder does not open by hand, it will not open for the program either.
Key and address
The firm key and the server address are written into the archive automatically when you download the program with the button in the admin panel — you do not have to enter them by hand. See How to download the program. If the archive was handed to you as a file, you will have to enter the key and the address yourself on the «Settings» tab.
Small things people forget
- Antivirus. The program writes to the orders folder and to the machine folders all the time. If the antivirus slows the work down, add the program folder and the orders folder to the exclusions.
- Label printing. For the report on labels actually printed, the system must have the «Microsoft Print to PDF» printer — it is present in Windows by default.
- Computer name. If the program is going to run on several PCs, decide in advance how to tell them apart: the name is set by the «Host name» field in the settings.
