The window compares one pair of folders from the routes: what is in the source and what reached the destination. It is opened by the «Compare folders» button — from the «Orders» tab and from «Settings», next to the table of folder pairs.
What is in the table
The folder pair is selected from the list at the top — one pair is compared at a time. Both sides are walked in full, the files are laid out by order by the same rule as when copying. The columns:
- Order — the number;
- Order (name) and Customer — from the order card;
- Order status — the current status on the server;
- In the source — how many files and how much they weigh;
- In the destination — the same on the machine side;
- Match — matches, not copied, copied partially or only in the destination.
«Copied partially» means that some file is missing in the destination or the size differs. The lines are coloured: red — not copied, orange — partially, blue — extra in the destination.
The comparison goes by file name and size, checksums are not calculated.
Search and filter
The search line searches by the number, the order name and the customer at once. The list next to it lets you leave only the orders of one status — convenient for checking whether everything has gone out for the orders in work.
Deletion
You can select as many lines as you like. The buttons: «Delete in the source», «Delete in the destination», «Delete everywhere».
After the deletion:
- empty subfolders are removed, but the root folders of the pair themselves stay — on a network drive that may be a mount point, which must not be touched;
- when deleting in the destination, the program forgets about the copied files;
- the order is marked as removed.
What «marked as removed» means
A marked order is not downloaded again and is not copied by synchronisation — otherwise the very next cycle would bring back everything you have just deleted. The mark is removed by itself as soon as the order gets a fresher change date on the server: then the order goes the whole way from the beginning — downloading, conversion, copying.
If the order is not in the program database and there is nowhere to take the date from the server, it will not be possible to mark it — this will be stated in the summary line, and such an order may be downloaded again.
If the table is empty
The reason is written in the status bar at the bottom:
- «Folder not found: …» — one of the folders of the pair is not on this computer. The typical case is paths from another machine left in the routes;
- «The folders are empty or the paths of their files contain no order number» — the folders are in place, but there is nothing to compare.
Small things worth knowing
- On large directories the first display takes a few seconds — the status bar will say «Scanning folders…». The window does not freeze while that happens.
- The folder pair can be switched right in the middle of the walk — the table will rescan the selected one, and deletion for the old pair will not be performed.
- Files with the same name from different subfolders of the same order are counted separately and do not overwrite each other in the counts.
