Composite material — a part glued from two or more layers of different materials. Used for thickened countertops, thick fronts, decorative compositions.
How a composite part is described
- The part card indicates that the material is composite.
- For each layer, a separate material from the catalog is selected.
- The order and direction of each layer are specified.
- The glue type is specified (see "Glue types").
How the cost is computed
Each layer is calculated as a separate part with its own material and dimensions. Additionally, a layer-bonding service and the glue consumption are added to the cart. The final part thickness = sum of all layer thicknesses (plus the thickness of the glue seam, if the company has set one).
Composite part or composite material?
This article is about a composite part: a single part glued from layers of different materials, and how its cost is calculated. If instead you need to build a new plate of the required thickness by gluing several identical parts in the project, see Composite material from multiple parts.
